County Art Workshops
The Identity
For the logo, we chose to go with the place that The County is known for, the sand dunes at Sandbanks Provincial Park. The logo is an abstract version of the sky, water and sand all coming together into a landscape picture placed within a frame.
The client asked for a gender neutral but light colour scheme. We decided to use a variety of dusky tones in the palette ranging from light and dark blues, pinks, and a light peach colour to tie it all together. These colours give a lightness to the brand and website while still allowing for versatility and playfulness. These colours are also great for finding in photos of The County which can be seen throughout the website.
The Website
The main goal of the website is to explain to people what County Art Workshops is, show off the upcoming workshops, and have people register their spots online. Some secondary information shows local food and drink and suggested accommodations in the area to help people plan their trips.
The workshop page imagery shows off the talents of the hosting artists to help people to understand the practical applications of the elements they will be learning. The rest of the website showcases The County through food and drink, the lilacs in bloom, glowing farmer’s fields, and sunsets at the dock.
Concept
County Art Workshops is located in Prince Edward County and hosts a variety of art workshops in the surrounding area. These workshops are meant to elevate the attendees’ artist skills while also acting as a retreat by bringing them to the picturesque and community-driven County. I wanted to bring the beautiful countryside and water views that The County is known for into the identity of the company with light blue, peach, and pink tones in the photo elements of the website and the colours of the brand.
Objective
Create an identity that encapsulates art and the essence of The County with a light and gender neutral colour scheme
Develop a visual oriented website to promote the workshops hosted by County Art Workshops that also provides location and accommodation details
Design promotional material for upcoming workshops
Create business cards for the company employees
Considerations
The primary demographic for County Art Workshops are visually oriented mid to late aged men and women
With this in mind, some design focuses were:
Keeping a clear and concise layout of information with everything accessible from the home page
Having plenty of imagery and other visual elements
Ensuring all elements will work on any browser, including Internet Explorer
